Because Granddads is a real working cattle ranch and farm, activities vary depending upon the time of season.  While your at Granddads you may be able to participate in activities including harvesting, calving, branding.  You may wish to take advantage of receiving roping lessons from a ranch worker or ride on a combine , truck, or tractor.

We are not a dude ranch.   Each day can be different and there is always work to do. If you choose,you could join the cowboys and cowgirls while they check cattle, water tanks, salt  and fences.  There are activities including sorting , moving cattle to rotate pastures, branding, and doctoring sick animals.   Supper will be served country style.  Hearty proportions, guaranteed to fill you up.  If your still hungry when you leave the table, its you own fault!  After supper, join the hands around the campfire, telling stories about the days events. If you are not in for riding, you may want to take advantage of hiking or biking or birding. We are only 4 miles from the Pawnee Buttes. great places to  explore and hike. The pastures are a great place for bird watching. Some of the species species observed on our property, in a study done by Colorado State University, were: horned larks, lark buntings, Mc Cown's longspurs, western meadowlarks, mountain plovers, chestnut-collared longspures, vesper sparrows, killdeer, mourning doves, Swainson's hawks, chipping sparrows, tree swallows and burrowing owles.
